The paintings of Silvia Jõgever (1924-2005), a late Palladian and organizer of the avant-garde exhibition of 1960 that went down in art history, are like wine – the older they get, the more they attract attention and create a furor. Nudes became one of the favorite genres of the artist who was a member of the legendary Tartu Circle of Friends, and this work is a perfect example of this.

She paints a female nude in a cabinet format in a classic pose on a neutral background but the more generalized treatment of the figure grows out of his love for Fauvism, and with just a few brush strokes, Jõgever is able to effectively model the curves of the body with anatomical precision. At the same time, the model’s face reflects confidence and the body posture sensuality, as a true nude painting should.
