Although a slight relaxation of the precepts was already visible by then, few artists dared to return to the legacy of Impressionism in 1956. Therefore, the abstract painting of Richard Sagrits (1910-1968) is a refreshing and rather rare example for its time.

The warm beige body image is academic in a good way, the model’s dreamy facial expression and natural pose match the poser’s professionalism – we are also looking at a psychological portrait. A shapely accessory like a watch on a woman’s wrist symbolizes bourgeois dignity at the time, while a modern hairstyle symbolizes awareness of trends.
