The 1960s marked the beginning of Raivo Korstnik’s (1932-1992) most celebrated period. Having graduated in 1957, he became known for his unique style, color and figurative thinking in the late 1950s and 1960s, especially in the genres of landscape and composition. The artist participated in many exhibitions, including the legendary 1966 exhibition of young artists.

This fresh painting relies on a resonant blue that evenly covers the sky and forest and is also present elsewhere in the landscape – a tone that characterizes Korstnik’s painting work as a whole. However, he has hidden numerous other tones in the landscape – just look at the village road in the foreground, a whole symphony of colors is hidden there! The idyllic atmosphere of the piece with the horse-drawn carriage quietly driving home conveys Korstnik’s love for a peaceful and romantic rural life.
