Olga Terri (1916-2011), one of the great names in Estonian art, knew how to express highly poetic visions, associative imagery and dreamlike landscapes in the language of painting. “A nude in the snow”, with a vaguely naked female figure painted in red tones on a white background, is like the ultimate symbol of passion, a metaphor for love.

As an empathetic and sensitive artist, Terri consciously includes the word “snow” in the title – the physical equivalent of tenderness, the purest beauty of which is expressed in the moment it hovers in the air. A moment more and she’s gone – just like a pair of birds who are in the service of the same message in the piece.
