An idyllic view of a summer day demonstrates the affection for realistic artistic language of Märt Bormeister (1916-1991) who received classical painting training at the State School of Art and Industry. The painting shows the influence of both of his teachers, August Jansen and Roman Nyman.

This beautiful piece depicting Mere Street in Võsu reflects, like a lens, the artistic approach of the second half of the 19th century, which loved detail – a long and venerable tradition of the genres of urban and landscape painting. As you look at the piece, which conveys the warm glow of evening light, the scent of a homely pine forest fills your nostrils.
