The lush brushwork in the painting “Summer at the farm” is a coloristic masterpiece. Märt Bormeister (1916-1991) has painted the modest farmhouse, nestled in the trees, so powerfully and with such a strong emotional charge that the yard seems to come to life – the eye wanders to the two windows and the door between them, which tell the story of the daily life of the inhabitants in the midst of primeval nature.
The groups of trees on the left and right, bending as if in the wind, balance the composition, the central part of which, in the sunlight, leads the eye into the depth of the picture – its wild raspberries and mushrooms. The capture of the mood of early autumn is particularly worth emphasizing in Bormeister’s painting.
