Botanically precise and visually exquisite flower bouquets are one of Malle Leis’ (1940-2017) calling cards. “Broken Hearts I & II” is a kind of floral fairytale about the reunion of two lovers because only together do they form a whole. Painting lush lilies of the valley, broken hearts and violets on the pitch black background that so characteristically depicts night, she leaves the stems of the painting on the right, touching the other.

She also adds a signature to only one of the pieces, as if confirming that one is connected to the other. However, the symbol of love becomes a tulip with open flowers. Thus the story moves from one picture to another, just like that typical of pop art serialism. And thus love is born, the visual paraphrase of which is the light green horizon as a symbol of dawn and sunrise.

The paintings are only offered together, the price is for the pair.
