The collage piece “Melody”, part of the music series by the renowned artist, curator and lecturer Mall Nukke (b. 1964), is primarily based on the violin, which for the artist is the purest symbol of melody. The spiraling sound beams dance along the conductor’s baton, the source of which is two violins hidden in the mist. The resulting powerful play of sounds is like walking on blades, which Nukke has visualized with relief formations made of Nepalese paper. Just one deviation in the strings and the melodic circle is disrupted.

Nukke also approaches her work with the same delicacy and respect, where nothing is left to chance, or as she herself says: “I make no compromises in terms of color balance, measured composition or aesthetic integrity.” For example, the upright eye in the middle of the soundtrack is depicted in a direct view, not from the side.

This makes the music fairy there an ethereal being who does not actually exist. There is only soul, sounds, and feelings… Nukke at her very best. With this piece, we celebrate the 60th birthday of Mall Nukke.
