Kalju Nagel (1918-2005) who found his own style under the tutelage of Aleksander Vardi, was a true patriot of Southern Estonia. He became a renowned landscape painter for whom the powerful views of the natural world of Terra Mariana and his love for it went hand in hand.

“Sky Blue Landscape” stuns us with warm summery shades of blue and green, where the freshness of the clouds is sometimes more deeply, sometimes more gently transferred to the row of trees spread out in front of the viewer. The breathtakingly beautiful view is connected by a winding gravel road, which adds the illusion of spatial depth to the painting and invites you to venture into the valleys and mountains of South Estonia with your thoughts.
