In 1982, Kaisa Puustak (b. 1945) received the annual graphic arts award for the best exhibition. Of the entire selection at the exhibition, “Bag of vegetables” was reproduced as an illustration in the magazine Sickle and Hammer, and it has become one of her best-known works to date.

Puustak finds inspiration in everyday objects around her, be it a potato basket, a globe or a simple bag of vegetables. Combining a metaphysical mood with a photorealistic approach to motifs, the artist captivates us with the technical finesse of her prints. Here, a beautifully arranged tote bag achieves the function of a kind of vase, carrying a carefully arranged bouquet of radishes and wildflowers.
