Juss Piho (b. 1963), who has become one of the most important Estonian painters and depicters of absurd, paradoxical situations, can also be unexpectedly romantic and dreamy. “Man with a pigeon” represents this very aspect of his work. Painted in pastels, with melting contours, the design also leaves a dreamlike impression, but the motif of an unexpected encounter still resonates.

A bird has landed on the man’s outstretched hand. Whether we are looking at a scene from his home in Nõmme or somewhere else, it doesn’t matter. What is important is the depiction of the connection between man and nature.
