The collision with the art world of Ivo Lill (1953-2019), one of the most internationally recognized Estonian glass artists, began during high school when the young man visited Kütiorg in Võru County and met Valdur Ohakas who, due to his open worldview, became the godfather of Lill’s approach to art.

Lill’s work draws on complex geometric structures and the ability to use glass to create illusions of reflection, especially when one object is fused with another one of more complex construction. This is how he achieves a result where glass surfaces, layer upon layer, offer unparalleled meditative and aesthetic pleasure.

The seemingly simple rational form of the “Pyramid” conceals a complex spatial labyrinth – a completely different structure. To see it, we must delve into the deep layers of the piece. “Pyramid” is an intellectual puzzle for the viewer – how can one create something so incomparably delicate and strong at the same time?
