Ilmar Kimm had been inspired by Vana-Võidu, or more precisely the Southern edge of the Tänassilma primeval valley, in Viljandi County, for several years. The vocational training center located in the village, which has been operating since the 1920s until this day, has made this small place a well-known location for people all over Estonia.

The artist, however, is drawn to the same place again and again by the nature there. As is typical of Kimm, he paints a mood, the common denominator of which in the case of the landscape view with a herd quietly eating hay, is truly idyllic.
