The painter Hugo Lepik (1905-2001) was a realist. He drew his themes from everyday life, and therefore his motifs are charming in their unpretentiousness and discretion.

The vividly and sketchily depicted work of two rushing horses is based on coloristic contrast: the white and brown horse appear as a positive and a negative in relation to one another. However, in terms of content, it is a story about the friendship between animals who do not leave each other even at the fastest trot.
