While in Estonian painting of the second half of the 20th century Olev Subbi was the most dedicated to depicting the nude figure, in graphic art, one of the masters of this genre was definitely Henno Arrak (1930-2017). In addition to female nudes, he also made precise drawings and impeccable linocuts and etchings of still-life scenes, landscapes, moody everyday scenes, Madonnas, as well as friendly animals.

The artist loved to create summery, suggestively poetic figural studies against the backdrop of which attention was drawn to details such as winding, slightly wrinkled fabrics, realistically depicted plants, vases, linen-covered tables, or fragments of the sky with clouds. In this drypoint technique, a fluttering piece of cloth brings liveliness and dynamics to the design and an exotic pheasant adds a pleasantly hedonistic nuance.

This particular print is a very rare sample piece.
