Two sultry female nudes on the graphic page of academician Evald Okas (1915-2011) express, in the artist’s opinion, the antique ideal of female beauty, and this is probably the case when we look at ancient Greek sculptures. Always curvy rather than thin, these figures represent sensuality above all.
Okas’ treatment of figures relies on emphasized contour lines and delicate modeling and toning. When drawing, he always brings out the most important things in a model. As is typical of the artist, the models are enhanced by a certain erotic tension, tasteful and restrained.
