Endel Taniloo (1923-2019) who was sent to Siberia as a young man, narrowly escaped starvation there and therefore, the search for peace and harmony stemming from personal experience is also noticeable in his work. Among other things, Taniloo himself was a passionate art collector and could appreciate the work of his collaborators in both painting and sculpture.

The beautifully modeled “Daughter’s portrait” is a visually powerful piece by the leading sculptor of the second half of the 20th century in Tartu, which captivates us with its poetic point of view. Inspired by his then 23-year-old daughter Airike Taniloo-Bogatkin, the sculpture is a kind of ideal image of a young woman through the eyes of a loving father in which anatomical precision combines with decorative generalization. Taniloo has the ability to find its softness in a strong material to highlight its soul and poetry.

The sculpture is also part of the collection of the Tartu Art Museum.
