When we look at the works of Edgar Valter (1929-2006), we always look for fairy tales, hidden clues, magic in them without even noticing. And we don’t have to be disappointed, even to a realistic flower painting (which is very rare in Valter’s portfolio) he can add his own little twist. Do you notice that the silver vase reflects back what is happening in the room?

However, this time the main focus is on the fragrant, heart-warming azalea flowers, which take us back to a warm summer day in the meadow, when everything around us celebrated happiness. Valter’s ability to draw attention to the beauty of simple flowers, to something that expects nothing from us in return but to enjoy them, also carries a more philosophical message, forcing us to stop for a moment, look, and feel the joy of this very moment here and now.

“Late summer in a silver vase” will be auctioned from the Edgar Valter estate.
