The creative legacy of Edgar Valter (1929-2006) is full of surprises as we increasingly discover him as a versatile artist who made bold choices both stylistically and technically. Valter enjoyed experimenting, often consciously throwing everything into the conventional corner and starting from a blank page – this is how new perspectives and unexpected combinations were born.

In “Moonlit nude”, Valter also finds a completely new, diagonal angle for the classic female nude, while still managing to maintain a perfectly balanced composition. The black and white color scheme of the work, which is tastefully charged with erotic tension, presents the viewer with moonlight, which spreads a cool glow over the woman’s beautiful body. The modern approach is somewhat reminiscent of the black and white experimental photography that was popular at the time.
