Arville Puström-Uus (1921-2014), originally from Tallinn, received her primary art education under Elmar Kits and Juhan Nõmmik in Pallas but due to the war, her studies were left unfinished and she completed her art education at the Düsseldorf Academy of Arts from 1946 to 1949.
After school, the artist moved to the USA where she mainly painted landscapes and flowers but also homesick winter motifs for which the climate of her new home, New Jersey, was ideal. The artist’s lilac bouquets whose spring-like colorfulness always had a certain dreaminess to them, turned out to be the biggest favorites of art critics. A good example of this is the large-format “Lilacs” which carries the stunning aroma and spring freshness from the painting straight into the living room.
