Andres Tolts’ (1949-2014) paintings are like collages where the strict and the creative are narratively combined. They have a central composition typical of him and a background of cool tiles. The lower part is masculinely strict, the only three solid forms and the point is directed upwards.

The postcard painted in the upper part is free and with a flying painting detail. Tolts secretly desired free abstraction, breaking out of space, moving away from aesthetic painting. His paintings are generally characterized by the relationship of opposites in a controlled environment. A small promise of freedom on the painting surface with a “strict regime”.
