Agu Pilt (1951-2002), an exceptional creator in Estonian art specializing mainly in highly aestheticized erotic pieces influenced by art deco stylistics, has left a legacy of powerfully elegant works that convey sex appeal in the history of art. “Bringer of Light” explores the sexual taboos prevalent in society but does so tastefully and authentically.
The male nude, symbolically bringing spiritual enlightenment to people with a candle, wears rainbow-colored angel wings and covers his body only with a delicate transparent scarf and gloves. Thus, “Bringer of Light” acts almost as a manifesto on the topic of sexual freedom.
