The work of Agu Pilt (1951-2002), a grand master of Estonian erotic art, is divided into two: the visualization of heterosexuals and sexual minorities in fantastical compositions. The watercolor from 1989 is a perfect example of the artist’s unique style: a decorative approach influenced by art deco.

At the center of the composition is a sensual woman wearing a mask, high stockings and long gloves who exudes confidence and power. The model’s dominant stance is emphasized by a banner resembling a battle flag. However, the blue-black-and-white color scheme that dominates the piece adds ambivalence to the whole story.
