In addition to graphic art, Ilmar Torn, who hails from Saaremaa, has also made a significant contribution to the history of Estonian pastel painting. The artist, who had been utilizing this technique since the 1960s, gradually became more colorful in his pastels, while maintaining their painterly softness and fluidity.

“A nude in blue” carries a sensual note, tastefully playing with a light eroticism. The warm pinkish-orange tones of the sunset are contrasted by the cool, fresh blue, presenting us with a multi-layered and exciting final result.
