One of Estonia’s fastest-rising young stars, Alo Valge (b. 1991) is a huge film buff who often uses specific scenes from famous movies as a source of inspiration. In some works, it is not a specific shot, but still something very cinematic, woven together from different sources the artist enjoys.

This is also the case with the large-format oil painting, “The Robbery,” which would be perfect as a poster for a 1960s gangster movie. He leaves the area around the characters, painted in a clear, off-white, appetizingly empty, allowing the scene to breathe and the beautiful 1950s Volga to shine at its center.
