In the 1930s, Roman Nyman (1881-1951) went on several creative trips to the Northern coast, including Hara, Kaberneeme, Karepa, Toila and elsewhere. It is very likely that this painting depicts one of these places, creating a symbolic image of a harmonious life. There is a calm on both the sea and the shore, the boat that rowed the choppy sea during the day has stayed out to enjoy a well-deserved rest, and the sun is about to set.

Sensitively, with almost transparent light blue, Nyman depicts the flickering of the evening sky, which is repeated in the crowns of the spruce trees standing on the shore. The entire painting is covered with the faint glow of the evening light, which gradually brightens towards the sky in the already dim foreground. An excellent rendering of the atmosphere by a recognized master.
