The unique Liisi Örd (b. 1984) skillfully fuses classical colorism, pasty painting technique and extremely simple nature motifs. Örd’s surface coating technique is reminiscent of one of today’s most famous painters, Anselm Kiefer, while she observes the landscape with the eyes of a romantic, who can notice deep mysticism and mystery. It takes great skill to capture this.
The artist herself has said about this piece: “This is a thoughtful landscape where the fog spreading against the background of the trees cleanses the colors of nature. These colors create clarity and perspective, which disperse into the distant light.” Such a philosophical-contemplative approach has been characteristic of Örd’s work from the beginning. By transferring the deepest layers of nature’s primal power through brush and paint to canvas, she becomes a kind of pioneer, reminding each of us of where we have come from and where we are headed…
