“Distant morning, unimaginable taste.
The fog rises from the decaying night.“
Excerpt from Doris Kareva’s poem “Rhapsody”
One of the most promising of our younger contemporary painters, Liisi Örd (b. 1984), brings back to the art scene the realistic nature motif, executed in a pasty manner. However, Örd does not limit herself to mere depiction but penetrates deep into the motif, observes and contemplates, finding invisible beauty, capturing the primordial soul of nature. The artist moves on the border between abstract and realistic style, in a dreamy light landscape, which comes to life on a dense painting surface and takes the viewer on a philosophical journey.
“Silence. Fog observes the gentle fading and re-creation of nature. These moments of letting go give nature an inner dimension, in which one can sense the depth and fusion of all being,” Örd says of the genesis of this painting. The impression is that the rebirth is taking place right before the viewer’s eyes, here and now – so powerfully do the blades of grass rise through the frozen water surface for a moment! Örd’s work speaks to both man and nature at the same time, inviting them to look at each other very closely, understand and appreciate each other.
