The best of Ilmar Kimm’s (1920-2011) work is made up of landscape paintings and portraits. The view of the Pärnu river painted in 1952, surprises us with its impressionistic freshness and impressiveness. Apolitical in view of the artistic truths of his era, Kimm has primarily focused on conveying a mood, capturing a sunny and carefree summer day. A couple of figures standing in the sun, blending into the general color scheme, most directly reflect the summer idyll, which is emphasized by the cloudless sky and the breeze.
