Evald Okas (1915-2011) found opportunities to travel early in his career. A trip to Georgia in 1946 offered Okas emotional enjoyment of nature and novel human types. His view of the city of Tbilisi is a first-class example of a melting watercolor technique but traditional in every sense in its choice of motif. The motif of a cityscape with cypresses and tiny human figures, captured quickly and with a dynamic line. It is intended to convey an oriental milieu, something completely different for a Nordic person.
