As a rare example of the genre of flower painting by the great figure of Estonian abstractionism Ado Lill (1932-2018), the composition with fantastic giant flowers a la Karel Appel’s abstract expressionism comes to mind. However, knowing Lill’s great affection for erotic art in his late creative period, one cannot help but think that this picture is actually an image of a woman translated into the language of floral symbolism, like Georgia O’Keeffe’s. In any case, this painting is one of the artist’s most emotional and passionate, in which the expression of feelings is no longer particularly controlled by rational calculations.
