Painted in a deep brown color scheme, which was primarily associated with the Düsseldorf School in the second half of the 19th century, this painting by Juss Piho is not simply intended to be a portrait of a person but an allegory of living in today’s constantly rushing environment.
The model with her hat pulled down over her eyes is anonymous as the artist himself says in the title. But it is precisely this ambiguity that intrigues and intensifies the seemingly simple motif, which, in its impressionistic style of expression, would even be suitable for Pallas’ pre-war exhibitions.
