J\u00fcri Arrak “Human”, 2000.<\/p><\/div>\n

At Allee gallery’s graphics auction held on the 16th of October 2021, more than 90% of the available pieces found new owners. Hosted by art historian and critic Harry Liivrand, the most expensive piece of the auction ended up being J\u00fcri Arrak’s “Human” from 2000 that sold for \u20ac10,800. The next highest bids were for Eduard Wiiralt’s famous “Viljandi landscape” and the very rare “Portrait of Catherine Boullaire”.<\/p>\n

It was great to see that graphic prints and drawings are becoming more respected and popular among Estonian art fans. The most talked-about pieces were from the 1970s – several by Arrak as well as Leonhard Lapin’s “Woman-machine” series and Kaljo P\u00f5llu’s folkloric works. From the 1980s, the favorites were T\u00f5nis Vint’s letterpressed prints and all five of Vive Tolli’s available works.<\/p>\n
